"Such a beautiful, holy place! I have been here three times, the last on my 80th birthday, which was very special." Betty
" We had our wedding here in June 2017 and had a blast! Craig was incredible on the of and Nicki helped us with all the coordination and answering our questions leading up to the wedding weekend. We cannot say enough good things about this place and Craig and Nicki Carmody. We truly had an unforgettable wedding because of them. We had our ceremony at the "Family" part of the Path of Life Garden and the the ceremony on the hill over looking the bonfire. It was beautiful." ~ Daniela & Andrew CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO Kayaking on the Connecticut River is easy and lovely with Great River Outfitters. Their trips leave at 10 AM, 12 PM, and 2 PM. Today was unusually warm for Vermont New Hampshire in September. We called on short notice and were welcomed. There is a clean restroom which is adequate for changing. Everything you need is provided and a thorough safety orientation was done. We were taken by van 5 miles up river to the put in spot. You can take as long as you want to relax and float down the river with the current, paddle, stop and picnic or swim or just kayak to the final spot. The trip ends at an amazing Garden Path of Life with a maze, labyrinth, and sculpture gardens. You don’t have to kayak to visit the gardens. There are bikes for rent too and in the winter you can go on a dog sled trip. We actually saw swimming squirrels and a young bald eagle! Go out of your way to stop here. This is a gem of a place. ~ Tammy We got married in the Path of Life Sculpture Garden this month and had a picture perfect wedding! Craig was fantastic at managing all the details of our ceremony, making sure the grass in front of the Union statue was cut, setting up a table for maps and wedding programs, and ferrying not-so-mobile guests to the site in an ATV. The garden is such a wonderful place to celebrate a special event. We highly recommend it! ~ Diane & Jim Two families of five, including six "kids" from ages 13-21...we chose the Deluxe Camping package which included 3 hours of kayaking. I cannot say enough good things about the experience. KAYAKING down the river was relaxing...a little more challenging than a float. The water level was low so we had to avoid getting grounded in some spots...some of us got stuck (briefly)...which made for some laughs. We stopped about half way for a refreshing dip in the river. CAMPING - After kayaking we settled at our 2 camp sites. We chose the "Deluxe" camping, and when they say everything is included...they mean EVERYTHING! The sites and tents are spotless. They even filled the fire pit in the sculpture garden for us. It was a Monday night so we had the place to ourselves, except for one couple on the hill with their own tent. We were enchanted as we sat around the bonfire among the enormous sculpture "band", under the stars....truly magical. One thing you should know....you can hear the traffic and train at night. Do not let this deter you...just know you won't have that "middle of the forest" quiet...bring earplugs. SCULPTURE GARDEN - indescribable. A "must see"! My husband and I walked the path early in the morning with our coffee (takes about an hour if you take your time). Then the 2 families walked it together. The kids were engaged and amazed. We loved hearing their insightful comments afterward. There are a variety of sculptures, some hand-crafted and some sculpted with plantings and natural materials. Each station represents a stage of life. We all had a different favorite. Mine was "Respite". We left the garden with lifted spirits and grateful hearts. (Thank you, Terry McDonnell, for your wonderful creation.)
LUNCH - by the time we finished walking the path and packing up our gear (not much to do, considering we left most of it there!), it was time for lunch. Lucky for us the Harpoon Brewery was just steps away...on the same property. Lunch was delicious! We ate on the outdoor patio and afterward did some browsing in the few shops on the property.
I could go on and on...this is an incredibly special place... ~ The Stoodley "Our BIG day went off without a hitch thanks in large part to your efforts and thoughtfulness. We have received so many compliments about the garden and how our guests enjoyed walking through and getting lost in the maze. Our family and friends were comfortable and relaxed to simply enjoy themselves and experience The Path Of Life. We can't imagine spending the day any other way. We'll be back soon... Many thanks and warm wishes to you and yours." ~Tami & Mindy
"Terry has opened up his heart and his beautiful garden to the patients I care for on their cancer journey. I am so grateful to be able to invite patients whose lives are gripped in the palm of suffering to open to the wonders of life. May they enjoy the beauty and let go of some of the hurt. Coming to this garden allows patients to meet their true self beyond pain and by doing so discover the strength to move toward healing. This will be a welcome for all patients and families as they move on their journey. Namaste." Maggie
"I love to be here. here in beauty. It always works the magic.. peace and harmony here." Lucy
Real good experience, my wife was very apprehensive first she hates water and boats, but my two kids convinced her, the guide was very helpful and noticing my wife discomfort he was really nice given her a detailed tips and reassuring her that was safe and simple, she actually enjoyed and the hole family had a blast, thanks for the crew they are amazing! ~ Kevin
Terry, we can’t thank you enough for allowing us to use your magnificent space! The wedding was truly magical…more than we could have ever hoped for." ~ Kelly and Paul
My family and I just had the experience of a lifetime with Great River Outfitters. This was our second time doing Dogsledding with Great River Outfitters and we loved it! This time we went it was -7 degrees and cold. We didn’t care because the views were breathtaking and the owners are incredible. They let you pet the dogs and they don’t rush you at all. We are going back in July and I can’t wait to see what they have for summer activities. ~ Brian and Cait.
My husband and I just got married at the Path of Life Sculpture Garden on 6/17/2017. Craig and Nicki Carmody were incredible! On the day of the wedding, Craig was helping to coordinate all of our vendors and making sure everyone had what they needed (power, proper tent and table set-up etc.) Craig was also shuttling me and my husband around for the procession of the ceremony (at the Family part of the Path of Life) and then he shuttled us back to the lodge for us to do a wardrobe change for our first dance. He was incredibly helpful. Beyond expectations. We can't wait to come back for the dog sledding in the winter! Thank you Nicki and Craig! ~ Daniela
